Timberdoodle Grade 9 Curriculum Kit—UNBOXING!

I know that comparing homeschooling to public school is a big no-no in the homeschooling world—and I completely understand why. Trying to recreate the classroom at home is stressful on mom, the kids, and is an unnecessary burden to put on yourself. Think back to your own public school experience—if that's your story—and try to remember your favorite teacher. Why was she your favorite? Most likely it was because she did not try to fit within the norm of the educational model. She thought differently, taught differently, and treated her students differently, leaving an impression that lasts a lifetime.

I remember walking into such a classroom after Christmas break to find that my teacher had switched our desks completely around. Rather than sitting in individual rows, we were blocked off into groups of four to work both independently and as a group—for an entire semester! It was the simple things that made all of the difference, but our creativity was sparked and to this day I remember many details of what I learned that semester, more so than any other year of school.

Is the 2022–2023 school year the year to change up your homeschool? With a handful of kids in the home ranging from a kindergartener to high schoolers, I quickly realized that every child learns differently. This year, I was at a loss when thinking about what to do for my rising ninth grader. This kid is as hands-on as you can get. Since day one, he has been my kinesthetic learner yet he likes to follow a checklist. He prefers to have all of his work laid out for him so he can check all of the boxes, but he learns best by doing. I had no clue how to combine the two until I was introduced to the customizable curriculum kits created by Timberdoodle. I ordered the Timberdoodle Grade 9 Curriculum Kit once I saw that the entire year was pieced together for you with piles of hands-on activities weaved into the curriculum. Check out what came in the mail! One box, yes, one box filled with the contents of an entire year worth of homeschooling curriculum for my ninth grader.

Right away, he looked through the box getting excited about the different activities he would be working on and books he would be reading. Pictured below is what I ordered for him. Most of the items are in the traditional kit but you can absolutely customize, which is what I did. We already have a history curriculum that we are working on with several of the kids but as far as his independent work goes (which is what he thrives in) this kit is perfect for him.

Of course he is excited to finally be in high school but with that comes much responsibility. The Timberdoodle High School Planner is perfect to help lay the foundation for the years to come. This is one of the many resources that came in his kit that I will be giving an in-depth review on in the coming year. Join us on our journey as we embrace Timberdoodle for high school. I will show you how we use this curriculum month by month so be sure to subscribe so you can see the ins and outs of these materials and find out if a Timberdoodle kit is a good fit for your family.

We will break into the board games, puzzles, books, and activities and let you join us along the way!

Here is a sneak peek into what I will be reviewing throughout the next school year:

From electronics to grammar this kit has it all, and I can't wait to share it with you. Please follow me throughout this journey!
