The results are in! I have found through extensive digging and investigation that the Write Bonnie Rose curriculum has exactly what I need for my active, homeschooled elementary-aged boys this homeschool year! As a Gold sponsor of Thrift Schooling for the 2024–2025 school year, I have been thrilled to incorporate this curriculum into my regular homeschool routine. The perfect resource to accompany our study is Write Bonnie Rose's A Detective's Guide to American History: 1800–1900. This guide is over 400 pages long! It approaches history through the eyes of a detective making this perfect for eager, hands-on learners.
In our homeschool, we are currently learning about Harriet Tubman and sure enough, Write Bonnie Rose has the perfect materials for both of my younger boys. One is early elementary and the other is upper. The older is able to use A Detective Guide to American History: 1800–1900 and the younger is actually learning a great deal from A Detective’s Guide to American History 1800-1900, Coloring Book Bundle. I love that maps are included in the Detective Guide for older students. Geography is a subject that is easy to let fall through the cracks. Having this included helps me to stay on track, ensuring that I am teaching my kids what they need to know and where key events in history occurred. The fun code breaker included helps your child to keep their hands busy in between his writing practice, research, and map practice. This expansive guide is chock full of rich and informative content to keep your child's mind sharp and engaged.
What I love about the Harriet Tubman coloring book in particular is the quality content. The pictures are perfect for my first grader and the words that are included on each page for tracing are educational in content. These pages do not simply include filler words to pass the time but could be used as a stand alone resource for younger learners, teaching them everything they need to know about Harriet Tubman from her real name, to how she impacted so many lives in her time.
