Stand for freedom by watching Average Joe,
in theaters October 11.
High school football coach Joe Kennedy had no other choice but to fight. A childhood in foster care followed by twenty years in the Marine Corps was nothing compared to his biggest battle—his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew
this battle for religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight—no matter the cost.
From the director and producers of God’s Not Dead and the producers of The Blind comes Average Joe, in theaters beginning October 11. Get your tickets today!
My Thoughts
What do you think when actors break the fourth wall? Think of The Office. When actors break the fourth wall they are speaking directly to the audience. As a writer, I love to break the rules in the name of creativity. That is exactly what was done in this movie. Not only are you swept away into the world of Joe Kennedy and his past but there is a sense of humor that carries the movie along as soon of the characters break the fourth wall—so to speak. It's funny. It's light. It's creative. Some members of my family thought it was overused but I thought it was a unique and fun element of the movie. Especially because such difficult topics were addressed such as:
- Childhood Trauma
- Abandonment
- Anger Issues
- Marital Problems
- War
This movie addresses heavy topics based on the true story of a man who conquered difficult challenges throughout his life leading to his ultimate calling of standing for freedom and holding fast to a promise that he made to God.
There was one nod to Facing the Giants and another nod to Duck Dynasty. It is unclear if that is because these were influential in Joe's life or if they were put in to relate to the audience. My guess is the former. This movie releases on October 11. If you want to stand for freedom, support this movie in the theaters while you can.
