The CSB Jesus Daily Bible is the Bible that helps you read through the entire Bible in a year keeping Jesus at the center of each day. This Bible includes a 52-week, Christ-focused, guided reading plan that you can join at any point during the year.

Day by day, you'll thematically study Scripture through a weekly introduction, helpful articles and infographics, and a weekly summary to help you understand Jesus’s central role from Genesis to Revelation.

With this Bible, you can see how every page of God’s Word points to the bigger story of Jesus.

This might seem like an obvious concept. It's all about Jesus, right? Yet I am reminded of Paul's warning in the New Testament:

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucifiedGalatians 3:1

Through many modern doctrines, music, teachings, and beliefs the center is man. It is about us. What God can do for me. How can I read myself into the Scripture? What is God speaking to me in this Bible verse, today, right now? This is not how Bible study is intended to be. Have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of picking up the Bible, pointing to a random verse, and see how God speaks to you at that moment? Can God do that? Well, sure, he can do anything. He can speak through a donkey, but our ultimate Bible study patterns need to look at the Scripture as a whole. At God's plan and purposes as a whole. Not just what it means for us on a personal level. Why is this important to understand? Because God's plan is bigger than us and when we see how we fit into a bigger picture, it helps us to be less self-centered and more others centered.

Think about the ten commandments. Two types of commandments are presented. The first ones are how we are to honor God. The rest are how to treat others. The Bible does not tell us not to steal, cheat on our spouse, or lie for our sakes but for the sakes of others. It is ultimately about how we treat others. We surrender to Jesus in our own lives so God can be glorified and others will be drawn to Him.

It is not about growing our ministry.

Or being anointed.

Or about us at all.

Many people look at David and say that it is okay to be introspective, depressed, and emo because of what He wrote on an emotional level. I disagree. Many of the things that David said, in his vulnerability, were actually pointed directly to Christ and were even quoted in the New Testament referencing events during the life, ministry, and death of Jesus. It's all about Jesus.

Side note: I love the vintage-look of this Bible. Doesn't it fit right in with the other vintage-style books on my bookshelf? I have a thing for vintage or vintage-style books so this Bible fits right in.

How Does It Work?

This Bible can be started at any time in the year—not just on January 1. Simply begin with Week One, Day One and work your way through. If you are a checklist person—this is the Bible study plan for you! The readings are labeled Day 1 through Day 5 so you only need to dedicate five days a week to this plan. That said, there is a summary provided at the beginning of each week complete with references under Where Will I Find Christ In This Week's Reading? Then, an additional summary is provided at the end of each week's reading to recap, complete with application bullet points. So technically, you could make this a full seven-day event where you read the initial summary on Sunday, work through Days 1–5 on the weekdays, and finish up on Saturday with the final summary/application questions. Whatever works best for you!

It is so important to see Jesus throughout the whole Bible even in the Old Testament. If we do not see Jesus in the Old Testament, we can easily become deceived, taking the Scripture out of context, forcing religious mindsets on ourself or others.

For example, when the temple was built, the Israelites brought their offerings to the temple to help build it. Offerings of significant value. The temple in the Old Testament was a foreshadowing of what Jesus would do for us in the new. The sacrifices that would be offered in the temple were no longer needed as Jesus became our offering for sin once and for all. When he died, the curtain in the temple was torn in two. Everything that the temple represented then was fulfilled in Jesus so that we, as Christians, could be the temple of the Holy Spirit. But, when we focus on the Old Testament, people can go off in left field and tell us that we need to help build a man's building or his vision and relate that to the temple of the Old Testament. This might sound crazy but it happens all of the time. Many preachers will speak (or yell) this from the pulpit in hopes that his congregants will give more, tithe more, or volunteer more. This is moving away from what the original text intended and no longer focusing on the whole picture—Jesus.

Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, friends. Not ourselves. Not man. Jesus.
