In a time of profound political, civil, and spiritual turmoil, Reverend David Hill grapples with a crucial question: Does God still have a place in politics? Following the unexpected death of a favored congressional incumbent, David feels compelled to enter the race, challenging the increasing efforts to remove religious influence from public policy. Facing off against state senator Peter Kane, a formidable opponent determined to create greater division by pushing religion out of the public square, David must navigate the treacherous waters of modern politics, where his faith, optimism, and principles are put to the ultimate test.

As he confronts adversaries from his past and faces relentless scrutiny, David’s campaign becomes a beacon of hope for many who yearn for spiritual and moral leadership in a divided nation. God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust explores the enduring relevance of faith in public life and the fight to keep religious values at the heart of governance.

My Thoughts

This movie brings back previous characters from other God's Not Dead films. The man from China stood out to me the most in this film since he hit the nail on the head from the beginning. When obvious government control began rearing its ugly head at the height of the pandemic, he explains to the preacher (David A.R. White) that he is not a conspiracy theorist to begin to question the government and their policies. He mentioned the Cultural Revolution that occurred in China in the mid-1900s. I have met people and descendants of people that experienced this socialist push firsthand in China. When the pandemic hit I was introduced by a Chinese friend to several resources that go into detail about what happened during this time period. My eyes were opened. The parallels put the fear of the Lord in me.

If you watch the interview above with the lead actress, Samaire Armstrong, you will see her passion for using her voice for standing out against injustice (not just in the film but she did so in real life). This film helps remind us that we will never be able to go back to business as usual, but we are faced with decisions each and every day that can dictate our future. Will we stand for truth or remain complacent?

The antagonist of the film is Scott Baio (Happy Days) which was hard to wrap my mind around because of my fond memories of him as Charles in Charles in Charge. How could he be the bad guy? Well, as soon as he called a woman fat, it was over for me—bad guy all the way. I will never look at him the same again!

This movie is certainly set apart from the other God's Not Dead films. Relevant and unpredictable, this movie is entertaining to watch from start to finish. As the daughter of a politician, it is no secret that I have carried the importance of politics and voting in general elections to my family. My husband and I always vote together, bringing our younger ones with us to the polls for EVERY presidential and local election. Regardless of my opinion on whether or not the last election was rigged or not, I will continue to place my vote while I still can—especially in the upcoming election. Be sure to watch this movie all the way until the end for stats that will be sure to shock you. I was certainly surprised!

My only vice with the movie was the new Newsboys song. Something about it made me 99.9% sure that AI wrote it. As a huge Newsboys fan in the 90s I attended several of their concerts, rotating drum set and all! I listened to their CDs until they were so scratched they were unlistenable. That said, as soon as I heard the new song in the movie, I was whisked back into the 90s as if I had heard this song a million times. I honestly thought someone just went into ChatGPT and said, write a Newsboys song. That is what it felt like, but there is no way of knowing for sure.
