Roar Like a Lion (Review and Giveaway)

With eye-catching art, fascinating stories and facts, Bible verses and prayers, and simple action steps, this 90-day devotional will help your kids approach both fun moments and tough times with their hearts set on God's faithfulness. Roar Like a Lion covers highly relevant topics such as: Facing fears about school and friendships, dealing with peer pressure and bullying, handling new challenges, disappointments, and grief, and having the courage to try something new. Understanding how we each fit into God's great story is important to teach our children and this devotional does just that!

The theme of this book is enticing. The lion. As a homeschooling mom I love the educational value of this book because it provides informative, thoughtful. and well-researched information along with practical ways to live out the Scriptures. This devotional is full of quality content each and every day, you and your kids are going to finish it wanting more! Nobody should ever have to see their child die as this author did. You can tell that since he was dedicating this book to his daughter that he put His all into it in hopes that it would influence and change the lives of other children. The messages are heartfelt, down-to-earth, and perfect for children today.

The illustrations are stunning and unique to the style of the artist. One image was sightly concerning since it showed a variety of demographics including different races, handicaps, and a girl with a rainbow tee-shirt. Normally in a devotional, I wouldn't think twice about that. Of course the Lord loves every child regardless of their skin color or disability but the fact that a girl with a rainbow tee was included in an obviously diverse group of students was concerning. It seemed intentional that the artist was including a member of an extremely vocal community if you get my drift. I agree that Jesus loves everyone and my prayer is that every member of that community is touched by the power of God's love, but including that image in a devotional primarily targeting Christian children was disturbing. If an ark was included next to the rainbow that would have been a different story. This would most likely be glossed over and not even noticed by children so if you are an, "eat the meat and spit out the bones," type of person then it most likely won't even be noticed, like so many cartoons being released these days with an underlying progressive tone. I just thought I would point this out. I could be reading too much into it so use your own discretion!

Honestly, the depth found in the text of this devotional is hard to find. If you would like to enter to win your own copy and check it out for yourself enter the giveaway below!
