  Our church had a baby boom when I was pregnant with my first. I attended baby showers, back to back, for months. Pregnant, hungry and emotional, I remember talking to veteran homeschool moms over cake and coffee at a shower. Determined to homeschool from the get-go, I began researching homeschooling laws in our state. The more I read, researched and thought about the laws, fear gripped me. I shared these fears with these moms and they basically just brushed it off. I mentioned that I was afraid that it would soon become illegal to homeschool in America. One woman, who had already graduated four of her own, simply smiled and said, “I wouldn’t worry about it,” and then tried changing the subject of conversation. I was upset. The other night, while all five kids were tucked into bed, I put my feet up and relaxed on the couch watching YouTube videos of random homeschooling families. Sometimes it encourages me just to see what other homeschoolers out there are up to. One of the moms I watched showed a glimpse of their eccentric, simple, off-grid lifestyle living in a yurt in New Zealand.   Guess what, friends? There is not a single homeschool mom on this planet that has it all together. I hate to burst your bubble. Now, if you have met this mom, let me know. I’d love to meet her! But, to date, I have yet to meet this mom. Even the ones that seem like they are all put together, once you really talk to them, you find out very quickly that they are human and they have struggles just like you and me. . .
