Makeup Trick From a Busy Mom and a GIVEAWAY

I have a confession to make. Since I've become a mom, I really have become quite lazy in the makeup department. Even though I've never been known to wear excessive amounts of makeup, I have no problem with "painting the barn" once in a while! That said, I still think less is more. I've basically always had this mindset and I'll let you in on a little secret that fashionistas may cringe at! Since I tend to be simplistic in my efforts, I would actually use lipstick not only on my lips but as my eyeshadow as well! Is that crazy? I've actually never told anyone that I would use lipstick as eye shadow but it's the truth! I liked how my it would match my lips and I wouldn't have to mess with trying to find an eye shadow that matched my lipstick. Enter Paula Dorf Cosmetics. This line is a high quality collection of brushes and color cosmetics . And guess what? Their Ecstasy makeup is quite the multitasker that I have now replaced my normal lipstick w...

A Homeschool Phys Ed Idea: Rock Climbing

  Homeschoolers! If you are looking for something fun and challenging to do in the Roanoke Area why not try your hand at Rock Climbing? The River Rock located in Roanoke, VA has opened their facilities to homeschoolers the FIRST FRIDAY of the MONTH during the school year. Many Rock Climbing gyms are not child friendly but River Rock is. Even children as young as five years old can climb on the homeschool days! Here, my youngest has no fear  free climbing these rocks! Before you arrive, be sure to fill out The River Rock Waiver online. This can be filled out on site but if you are bringing kids that are not your own, the parent must fill out the waiver online before you arrive, this is essential. Another thing to know when planning your visit is the amount of adults required to watch the children. You will need to have one adult for every three climbers ages 5-13. Children must be five years old to climb. If you have children under that age they are n...

Prevent Hair Loss

Recently, I had the opportunity to try Pura d'or hair products specially formulated to prevent hair loss. Hair loss is not a fun topic. It's one of those subjects we try to avoid in everyday conversation. There are many causes to this unfortunate occurrence, some that can be prevented, others that cannot. Nutrition can play a large part in hair loss both in younger and older adults. The first time I visited a third world country I was there for several months. The food I was given was the best that the people could give me, but void in nutrients causing many health issues, including excessive hair loss. I came back and people would just look at me and say, "what happened to your hair?" My beautiful, thick hair was thin, unhealthy and brittle. Fortunately, I was able to regain good health and once my overall health was revived, my hair thickened and became healthy once again. In addition to maintaining overall good health, I would recommend using natural in...

The Beginner's Bible: Come Celebrate Easter, Sticker and Activity Book {Review}

The Beginner's Bible has now released a fun filled Sticker and Activity book for your little one to enjoy this spring called Come Celebrate Easter . This 16-page activity book is colorful and engaging for children in preschool through first grade. In the center of the book is a sticker page with over fifty reusable stickers to be used throughout the activities. The pages are a glossy material so the stickers can be used over and over again, if desired. The book includes coloring pages, a word search, handwriting practice and puzzles.  The book begins by explaining who Jesus is and continues with the story of Palm Sunday going through the Holy Week including the Crucifixion, Resurrection and finally His Ascension to heaven. For children already familar with these events, this book is a great reinforcement to remind them of what Jesus did for them! On the other hand, this would also be an excellent resource to share this message with young children who have not yet been expose...

Roadmap Genesis Film {Review and Giveaway}

What do you think of when I say the word,                        Genesis? Beginning?  A book of the Bible?  A part of the Torah?  Whether it's a familiar term or not, filmmaker and rabbi, Nolan Lebovitz presents Roadmap Genesis , a documentary showcasing how the book of Genesis truly is a road map that is relevant and needed in our society today to help guide, teach and produce strong family values. Lebovitz interviews those of the Jewish faith as well as Christian, to make his case for the book of Genesis. I personally enjoyed hearing from Mike Huckabee. The more I heard him speak about family values, Biblical principles and especially his support for the nation of Israel, the more excited I became that he might be a presidential candidate. I know that he hasn't made it official yet but after learning more about him through his interviews in this ...
