Thrift Schooling

  Date night is always a treat, but it does not happen often. Once we hire babysitters (yes, the word is plural because with a large family we usually need more than one!) and once we end up paying them and buying a meal at a decent restaurant for ourselves, we have spent a pretty penny and have to wait quite a while to do it again! Which is fine, we have learned to be creative when it comes to celebrating a special night together when we are unable to get out, without the kids. It's   February! Can you believe it? My kids are getting ready for their annual Valentine's Day party. It's a big deal. Even my TEENS are into it. It's tradition with extravagant gumball machine and basketball hoop boxes complete with prizes for the winners. Homeschoolers from surrounding counties travel in for the fun. It's been hosted at skating rinks, bowling alleys, and even an arcade. The kids love it. But what about school?
