Code Rocket - A Homeschool Coding Kit Review

Have you ever introduced a new hobby to your child only to be pleasantly surprised that she/he fell in love with it from the get-go? Well,  Code Rocket  by Let's Start Coding was that pleasant surprise for me with my eleven-year-old daughter, and for that I am thankful! We are no strangers to coding in our home. My teenaged sons have built their own computers from scratch, installed Linux on them to try to ensure a little more privacy in the home, and are currently taking a coding course with the intent to navigate the Internet and tech in general in a safer, more private manner. That said, I never in a million years thought that my daughter would share the same interest, and she didn't until I introduced her to  Code Rocket .  She was hesitant at first but quickly realized that this is exactly what she needed in her life! Seriously. She has given up many of her hobbies that she now considers childish and is trying to figure out what she enjoys. She loves to r...

God's Not Dead: We the People (Review)

This next film in the God’s Not Dead franchise is an inspiring, must-see movie for everyone, especially those in the homeschooling community. The issues we face as homeschoolers are real and we need to be aware of what is happening in our nation and what could be in our future. As of now, homeschooling is legal in all fifty states of America. Even though it is legal, some states have stricter requirements than others. While watching the film, my husband was shocked that the homeschooling mom let a woman come in and observe her homeschool. I reminded him that in certain states, that is the norm, it is actually required. The state we currently live in has two main ways to file for homeschooling. One is Notice of Intent and the other is Religious Exemption. Many parents are nervous to file for Religious Exemption because of horror stories in the past.  Twenty years ago, if you wanted to file for a Religious Exemption, you had to be prepared to go to court and convince the judge...

Show Me the Father (Giveaway and Review)

Show Me the Father  is the first documentary from the Kendrick Brothers (Overcomer, Flywheel, War Room, Fireproof).  Whatever you do, do not be turned off by the fact that it is a documentary. I was hesitant at first, too. This is not comparable to any documentary that you have ever seen. I promise. It is truly inspired by the movement of our Father God in the lives of men, women, and children throughout the world today. This film shares powerful true stories and wisdom from fathers such as Jim Daly of Focus on the Family, Sherman Smith, Stephen Kendrick, and Dr. Tony Evans. Highlighting the fatherhood of God, Show Me the Father is an inspiring film that will touch anyone, regardless of where they are in their walk with God, teaching them to lean into God’s goodness. Releasing in theaters on September 10,  your entire family will not want to miss out on this event! Everyone has a unique father story.
