Who Is Anne Wilson?

Before I share a little bit about each song on her My Jesus album with you, I will mention that I received an exclusive opportunity to join a live stream event where Anne Wilson performed several of her hit songs. I learned that she was only 16 years old when she met the team she works with and is now 19. I knew she looked young, but I didn't realize that she was only a teen. My prayer is that she is not tainted from being exposed to fame so young and stays true to her faith throughout the process. It was such an honor and a privilege to join the live stream as fans could comment, and she would respond as we watched the performance together. Fans were even able to post video clips of their reactions to the songs. It was undoubtedly a unique interactive experience.

In addition to this song, here is a breakdown of the other songs on the album:

Prelude (Scatter): This instrumental piece gets you ready for what is ahead.

Scatter: This song mixes country music, gospel, and spiritual warfare music as Anne sings about the enemy scattering.

My Jesus: This is one of my favorite songs on the album. Written out of a place of brokenness at the loss of her older brother, this song reaches to the depths of the soul, reminding us that God can heal and restore the brokenhearted when life brings us the unexpected.

Devil: The song Devil reminds us how Jesus is more significant.

Sunday Sermons: Here is another favorite on this album for me. It is catchy with a beautiful tune, and the lyrics are inspiring.

Hey, Girl: A catchy song of encouragement for any Christian girl out there.

This House: This song speaks about building a solid foundation. As a writer and editor, I cannot get past the grammatical issues in this song. Maybe most country songs are written this way, but this one is too much for me.

Mansions: Flashback to Audio Adrenaline's Big House, this song reminds us that we don't know what heaven has in store for us, but we can imagine. No mention of football here though!

Mamas (with Hillary Scott): Perfect for Mother's Day, Mamas reminds us of the joy of having a God-fearing mother or mother-figure in our life.

No Place Like Home: Another heart-wrenching song about the loss of her brother speaks to anyone who has lost a loved one in their life.

God Thing: Miracles happen every day in the world around us, this song helps us remember that these miracles indeed are God things.

That’s What We Need: I wish the entire album consisted of songs like this one. Anointed, powerful, and by far my favorite.

Something About That Name: The most powerful Name in the world. The Name of Jesus. This song reminds us of its beauty.

Closer To God: This song is another beautiful reminder that God is always there.

My Jesus (feat. Crowder): Crowder and Anne Wilson finish this album strong as they sing her most popular song together.

Original 13 Colonies Fact Cards (Free Printable)

These Thirteen Colonies Fact Cards were created for my kids as we studied early American history. What a pivotal time in our history! Puritans seeking religious freedom, adventurers setting out for a new land, and those in debt hoping for a fresh start—a new life. From the first colony in Virginia, until all thirteen stars on the first American flag were represented, these cards are a perfect review for your homeschoolers. Use them to drill the first thirteen colonies so your child can recite them with ease, and have them dictate the information on the cards to help them remember a small fact about each colony. Feel free to print these out and have your children write facts that they learn about each colony on the back. Go ahead and laminate them, too!    Simply right-click, save, and print to use this resource in your homeschool as you study about the original thirteen colonies in America. Use the facts for dictation, copy work, or discussion in your home. Disclaimer: All co...

Truck-Themed Homeschool Chore Chart

Use this truck-themed homeschool chore chart to keep your kids on track throughout the school week. With lessons, field trips, meals, and unexpected errands filling up your week, even the simplest chore chart can help your home run more smoothly. At times, kids are excited for the new opportunity to help out around the house and do it with joy. Other times they stomp toward the trash can with anything but a good attitude. Help keep attitudes in check by using stickers, smiley faces, or positive verbal reinforcement as your child completes each task on the chart. For the child who loves lists (and the mom) this is the perfect free printable to have on hand!   (Simply right-click, save, and print)

The Pencil Grip Inc. {Review}

We have found what we have been looking for in The Pencil Grip Inc .'s 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers . These markers are the perfect fit for a homeschooling family such as ours. I am thrilled to tell you about our experience with them! Normally, I do not have a favorable impression of markers for several reasons. For one, as a kid, I remember markers having such a strong smell that it would give me a headache. I know some kids enjoyed the scents but it certainly was not for me. And to be honest, if I had markers like that in my house today, my kids would probably stick them up their nose or something. Another reason I have a distaste for markers is the drying out factor. As a parent of many children this is super frustrating. I finally teach the older ones to put the caps back on when they are done using their markers but then a younger one comes along and just doesn't understand. This then leads to the undue frustration of your child sitting down to...
