Literature-Based Homeschool History

Notgrass History has been an absolute blessing in our homeschool over the years. While we were living in a foreign country, I needed to have a curriculum that was easy to follow, had set lesson plans, and included an element of fun for the kids. Notgrass History was the perfect way to stay on track when the days were unpredictable. Then, last year, I needed something for two of my high schoolers to work through independently while I focused on my younger homeschoolers. Notgrass History was THE perfect fit! With materials spanning from elementary to high school, today I want to focus on Our Great Big World created for grades one through four.

Snuggling up on the couch with my homeschoolers during their younger years is one of my absolute highlights of homeschooling. I mentioned in a previous post that I am working through the entire Little House on the Prairie series for the second time with my younger ones. I am savoring these moments since once these ones are grown and gone, these days will be over! It's amazing how different my perspective is the second time around. I also approach certain subjects such as history a little differently. I appreciate the value of the textbook approach IF from a strong biblical perspective while I also find that my kids thrive when historical literature is thrown in there as well. This curriculum contains the best of both worlds. It includes both textbooks and literature options while taking your children on a journey across all seven continents focusing on God's natural wonders, creation, and people.

I have found Notgrass History to be easy and open-and-go with minimal prep work needed on the parent's part. Of course with the younger grades there will be parental involvement, this is the fun kind. With hands-on projects such as recipes, activities, and games you will enjoy this curriculum just as much as your kids will!

The Pencil Grip Inc. {Review}

We have found what we have been looking for in The Pencil Grip Inc .'s 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers . These markers are the perfect fit for a homeschooling family such as ours. I am thrilled to tell you about our experience with them! Normally, I do not have a favorable impression of markers for several reasons. For one, as a kid, I remember markers having such a strong smell that it would give me a headache. I know some kids enjoyed the scents but it certainly was not for me. And to be honest, if I had markers like that in my house today, my kids would probably stick them up their nose or something. Another reason I have a distaste for markers is the drying out factor.
