Christmas Printables to Get You Through the Season

As a Thrift Schooling mom, I thrive on snagging inexpensive resources and materials for my homeschool. To go along with my affordable printables from Write Bonnie Rose, I found a used binding machine from an elementary school down the road that just closed down. This past year two elementary schools in the area closed their doors, displacing hundreds of students as surrounding schools had to quickly figure out how to accommodate them. Some speculate that the schools were forced to shut down due to a mass exodus from the public schools into homeschooling. I will say, I have been meeting more and more families that are homeschooling but I cannot imagine it is enough to close down the local schools. Regardless, I was able to get ahold of an old binding machine for only a few dollars which has helped tremendously with online curriculum resources that need to be printed such as Write Bonnie Rose materials.

My kids have been loving the Christmas Activity Bundle as we begin getting out the Christmas materials in our homeschool. I pulled out Christmas Card Bingo with cute designs and Christmas carols and I could not believe that an entire hour went by before my kids even considered putting it away! They kept wanting to do round after round. Whoever got Bingo in one round was able to be the caller in the next. I was thrilled because each carol is written under the picture so it was able to help them with their reading skills all while having fun. It helps that there are many boards available with different designs to keep the variety going. I also appreciate that there are two of each design on each board (plus a free space) so the game is easy to play, easy to follow, and does not take too long which would be hard for little ones. It is wonderful!

Also, included in this bundle is a Gingerbread Unit Study. Decembers around here are not complete without a Christmas-themed unit study! I have done them over the years but my kids were in need of something new this year. This unit study is absolutely perfect filled with age-appropriate activities for PreK through 3rd Grade.

I also have several other Christmas activities printed out and bound for them that I am excited for them to use to break up the normal routine. The Christmas Puzzle Collection is just what my third grader can use and the Jesus Has Arrived! handwriting practice is perfect for my first grader!

The Pencil Grip Inc. {Review}

We have found what we have been looking for in The Pencil Grip Inc .'s 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers . These markers are the perfect fit for a homeschooling family such as ours. I am thrilled to tell you about our experience with them! Normally, I do not have a favorable impression of markers for several reasons. For one, as a kid, I remember markers having such a strong smell that it would give me a headache. I know some kids enjoyed the scents but it certainly was not for me. And to be honest, if I had markers like that in my house today, my kids would probably stick them up their nose or something. Another reason I have a distaste for markers is the drying out factor.
