I am honored to introduce you to the Enduring Word Study Bible, a pastoral commentary from every chapter of the Bible. Since the Reformation, the Word of God has been accessible to believers of all walk of life, not just leaders. God’s Word is meant to be known—and lived. God wants each of us to know, understand, and apply His Word, and sometimes we need help understanding a passage in context or in light of the Scriptures as a whole.

For more than twenty years, readers have turned to Bible teacher David Guzik’s verse-by-verse commentary at EnduringWord.com as a source of practical and pastoral insights into the Scriptures. The Enduring Word Study Bible invites you to join them as  you are guided into deeper knowledge of the Bible. Study notes based on Guzik’s  commentary help you to explore the meaning of every chapter of the Bible. Pastoral application notes guide you to live in light of Scripture, and feature articles bring challenging topics into sharper focus.

This Bible is a timely addition due to the growing concern of misreading and misunderstanding the Bible. We all have seen verses grossly taken out of context, and friends or family members disappointed or disheartened because they were let down by what they believed the Bible taught. Maybe people aren't leaving the faith because they no longer believe in the Bible, but because their eyes are being opened to what the Bible does not say. When we have been programmed for so long to believe that a certain verse or portion of Scripture means one thing because the culture taught us that, or New Age teaching crept into the church and got into our thought processes, we need to be open to sitting down with the Bible for what it says. That is what I did when I realized I needed to stop reading the Bible through the eyes of my teachers or spiritual mentors, but for what it says—and I have met many, many other believers who have done the exact same thing.

So here we are. We've read the Bible, we see where we were wrong, but what is right? We now have a choice. Are we going to draw closer to the Lord, forgiving those who led you astray, or turn away from Him completely? If you are like me and have read through the Bible with fresh eyes, allowing the Lord to reveal what it truly says, you might be ready to see what commentators say about each chapter. If you are willing, and I hope you are, this Bible is for you. It might be scary to open yourself up again to man's opinion if you were deceived in the past, but if you go into it with your eyes wide open, and chew the meat and spit out the bones, you will see the Bible in a whole new light.

What I love about this particular Bible is that it includes piles of cross-references. It also has keywords in the commentary section in bold to help stay focused. From what I see, no particular doctrine is being pushed in the Pastoral Application Notes sprinkled throughout the Bible, rather they highlight certain texts, pointing you to strengthen your relationship with the Lord.
