Is Sustainability a Core Part of Your Life?

If you’ve started making daily decisions that lead to a more sustainable life, ensuring that everything you buy, eat, and discard is done in the most waste-free and eco-friendly way possible, it might be worth taking the time to really think about it. What steps are you willing to take to work with what God has given us rather than against it? If you want to make a more serious commitment to a sustainable lifestyle, here are a few suggestions on how you can do just that.

Making More Than A Home

If you want to adopt sustainability as a mindset, encompassing more than just a few actions, then there’s no better place to start than with your home. Homesteading provides a direct path to living in greater harmony with your environment. From growing your own vegetables to raising animals for food in a humane manner, you can empower yourself to live more independently while minimizing your contribution to practices like factory farming and industrial processes. Of course, not everyone can produce 100% of what they use, and you shouldn’t feel guilty if you’re not able to reach those lofty heights. It’s all about doing what you can and finding the lifestyle that works for you.

Living Green, Leaving Gently

Although it might not be a factor that we talk about as often as we should, death is a natural part of life. This is even more true for those of us with pets or animals that we raise and care for. To that end, one of the best ways we can give back to the environment is through our own actions, as well as the care we provide to the animals that make up our home. Natural burials have become a more common way of ensuring a seamless and quick return to the earth, rather than leaving long-lasting waste. For those who prefer not to be buried (or to bury their pets), wooden cremation urns offer a more sustainable option, whether you wish to display them on your mantlepiece or return them to the earth.

The Legacy Of Green Living

While no one can expect more than living by their principles, if you want to see them spread further, there are plenty of ways to do just that. You can find local causes to team up with and volunteer for, whether it’s helping manage waste or promoting local ecosystems. You can also donate to causes you might not be able to participate in directly. Beyond that, sharing tips on sustainable living through a blog can help you make a bigger impact beyond just your own lifestyle and home.

Of course, no one can decide how far you decide to take your pledge to sustainability, but you. However, if you are looking to live a little more mindfully and dedicate yourself to minimizing your impact on the natural world, the tips above can be helpful.
