This dictionary is an excellent resource to use alongside the Explorer Bible for Kids. You might remember when I reviewed this adorable Bible for kids, which was perfect for when my kids were little. Now that my younger ones are both in elementary school, this is an excellent time to introduce them to this colorful and informative Bible dictionary. 

Our homeschool bookshelf is full of various dictionaries that are outdated and falling apart, but filled with valuable information, so it is hard to let them go. Now, I have a bright new dictionary to add to my shelves. Though the style is new, the content is historical, shared with fresh insights. Doctrinal issues are addressed in a thought-provoking way, such as the gift of tongues. 



Set up in ABC format, children can page through the book and see various names, places, artifacts, and information for each letter. Do your kids have Bible names? Let them look through and see if they can find their names! If so, they might learn something new about their name or name's sake. Four of my five kids found their names! My daughter has a more obscure name, so I am not surprised that her name was not listed! She did have fun trying to remember the 12 tribes of Israel as I quizzed her from a list in the book. Other fun facts in the book include:

  • Foods of the Bible
  • Jewish Festivals and Feasts

We have found what we have been looking for in The Pencil Grip Inc .'s 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers . These markers are the perfect fit for a homeschooling family such as ours. I am thrilled to tell you about our experience with them! Normally, I do not have a favorable impression of markers for several reasons. For one, as a kid, I remember markers having such a strong smell that it would give me a headache. I know some kids enjoyed the scents but it certainly was not for me. And to be honest, if I had markers like that in my house today, my kids would probably stick them up their nose or something. Another reason I have a distaste for markers is the drying out factor.
